The Scaling Trap: Why your next hire might be slowing you down

We recently hosted a Circle on "The Scaling Trap: Why your next hire might be slowing you down," led by Robert Batůšek, Consultant & agile coach. The session unpacked a challenge most scaling teams face: you add people to move faster, and suddenly everything takes longer. Together we explored three patterns behind that slowdown - the coordination tax, where doubling headcount can triple the time spent on alignment, handoffs, and sync; the rise of the "Single-Pizza" team, moving beyond Amazon's Two-Pizza rule as AI-augmented tooling lets ultra-lean teams deliver the results of whole departments; and ending the dependency cycle, shifting away from internal silos toward end-to-end teams that ship much faster.
